La Maison de Victor Hugo houses a collection of works by François-Nicolas Chifflart (1825-1901) who was one of the great illustrators of Victor Hugo’s work. The display includes five large charcoal drawings for La Légende des Siècles and the frontispiece for Les Travailleurs de la Mer, all recently restored, as well as a striking portrait of Gilliatt (one of Hugo's lead characters) and the extensive correspondence between the artist and the writer.
Open from 10am to 6pm, Tuesday to Sunday, except public holidays. Admission to the permanent collection is free.
